    Passenger Vehicle Plunges 300 Feet into Gorge in India, Killing 5 Laborers

    In Damduru, Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, India, a passenger vehicle plunged approximately 300 feet into a deep gorge, killing five people. Police confirmed this information on Saturday (August 15). Rescue operations have been ongoing since the accident.

    Police reported that the accident occurred around 10:30 AM on Saturday. The vehicle, carrying laborers working on a project in Damduru, lost control, skidded off the road, and fell into a deep gorge. All five fatalities are initially believed to be laborers.

    Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma stated that five bodies have been recovered so far. The bodies have been sent to the morgue for post-mortem examination. Further action will be taken after the necessary formalities are completed.

    He informed that the location of the crashed vehicle has not yet been identified. Rescue teams are continuing their operation. Searches are underway to confirm if anyone else was in the vehicle. More details regarding the accident are awaited.

    Meanwhile, in another road accident on Friday, approximately 20 tourists were injured in the Laxmi Khan area of Malla Ramgarh, Nainital district, Uttarakhand, India. They sustained injuries when a passenger vehicle fell into a deep gorge.

    Upon receiving news of the accident, police personnel from Ramgarh and Bhawali reached the scene. Subsequently, the police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and local residents jointly conducted rescue operations.

    The rescued injured tourists have been promptly admitted to the Community Health Center (CHC) in Ramgarh.
