Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has commented that the government is not giving importance to the United Nations’ warning regarding Al-Qaeda’s activities in Bangladesh. He stated that the UN report is based on speculation.

He made these remarks in response to journalists’ questions after a meeting of the ‘Bangladesh Judicial Service Pay Commission, 2025’ report review and recommendation committee, held at the Ministry of Finance’s conference room in the Secretariat on Monday (August 17).

Regarding the recent report by the UN Security Council, the Home Minister said that he has not yet read the report. However, according to information published in the media, the issue highlighted in the report is based on speculation.

He added, ‘There might be some observations in it. I cannot comment without seeing it.’

The Home Minister further stated that before making decisions based on any report or observation, it is necessary to verify the relevant matter. Especially on crucial issues like security, there is no scope to take action based on speculation.

He said the government does not see the need to take any action based on the information or observations about Al-Qaeda’s activities in the UN report without proper verification.

During the meeting, the ‘Bangladesh Judicial Service Pay Commission, 2025’ report and various recommendations were discussed.
